Thinking About Quitting

Mickey Mantle is considered one of the greatest players of all time.  He won the Triple Crown in 1956, leading MLB in batting average, home runs, and runs batted in (RBI).He was an American League (AL) Most Valuable Player three times and All-Star sixteen times. Over his 20 year career, he played in 19 of the 20 All-Star games.  Mantle team's played in 12 World Series - winning 7 of them. He holds the records for most World Series home runs (18), RBIs (40), runs (42), walks (43), extra-base hits (26), and total bases (123).

In Mickey Mantle second year of playing professional baseball, he was thinking of quitting; Micky was in slump and things were not going good for him in his personal life.  He finished practice and decided to quit. He left the stadium, got in his car and drove to tell his dad. Lucky for baseball fans, his father told him, " 'he was not allowed to quit! To stop feeling sorry for himself and get back to the ballpark.'' Even the most talented athletes struggle. No one is immunized from the potential thoughts of quitting. We will all experience these thoughts time to time. We sometime need the help of family and friends to get us back on the right path. Before quitting; think long and hard; talk to someone and make sure it’s right for you
